Author’s Guide
This guide is intended to give you an introduction to building an online presence (if you haven’t started already) as well as guiding you through making the most out of publishing here. First, I’d like to clarify the advertising policy for Twisted Erotica.
Advertising on this site will always remain limited and tasteful. Erotica has an overwhelmingly female audience, and based on my experience promoting adult material to women I have a few strict policies concerning all advertising here.
- No hardcore images, anywhere. Erotica should help the reader conjure vivid images in their head, not be a caption for a bunch of porn.
- Advertising will never be allowed to make this site look like crap. This is one of my serious pet peeves in web design. Ads need to be noticeable to work, but once they start detracting from the content it’s a losing battle.
- The prime ad space on the site, every page just below the header, is strictly reserved for promoting the sale of published work by the authors here. Until there’s something notable to promote there, there won’t be any ads in that space.
- At the end of any piece posted, authors are welcome to include a link to their personal blog/website and/or a link to anywhere their published work can be purchased. These should be tasteful and short, with no more than one small image. There will eventually be a max image size, but for the moment we’ll just keep it at “tasteful.”
- Two links total in the content of a post, at the end. If you promote any relevant affilate programs, you’re welcome to use one of those two links to promote a sponsor; as long as it’s something justifiably relevant.
The rest of this guide will help you get a feel for some of the basics of promotion, and will constantly evolve and expand over time. As I said in the call to writers, this is a long-haul endeavor that will take a little effort from everyone to really succeed.
